Besides the regular activities organized through the initiatives "Astronomia para as Escolas", "Astronomia para o Público" and "Planetário do Porto", CAUP is also actively involved in other initiatives such as:

• organization or participation in events;
• development of (multimedia) content for schools or the general public;
• scientific review of books and/or textbooks with astronomy contents;
• etc...

The various initiatives are partly supported through funding obtained from:

• national projects;
• international projects;
• institutional support, sponsorship and patronage of science;
• services and own funds.

CAUP is also home to several research and development activities in the areas of science education and outreach (Astronomy), hosting in particular Masters and/or PhD projects. CAUP also seeks to raise the visibility of its research activity in general, and this particular component on science education and outreach, through:

• publications in international and national journals or conference proceedings;
• communications in conferences (national and international);
• dissertations and thesis;
• articles in the media;
• etc...
