Biographic notes
Isa Brandão finished her graduate studies on Physics/Applied Mathematics at Porto University in 2005 and in 2007 was awarded with the MSc degree in astronomy at the same University. In 2012, she finished her mixed PhD (with the Aarhus University, Denmark) in astronomy, the title given by the Porto University. She is now a researcher at Astrophysics Institute - CAUP with a post-doc grant from FCT Portugal.

Current research interests include:
  • Modeling of solar like stars by using non-seismic data and, when available, information from stellar pulsations (a technique called asteroseismology) in order to obtain their fundamental parameters, such as the mass, radius, and age, with high precision. Very interested in characterizing planet-hosting stars.
  • Use of seismic diagnostic tools for inference on stellar interiors and, in particular, the properties of the core. The evolutionary state of a star (age) is strongly dependent on the properties of its core. On the other hand, knowing stellar interiors is useful to understand the physics occurring there and consequently improve stellar evolutionary codes.
  • Development of methods in order to improve the offset between the observed and model frequencies that exists due to our inability of properly model the outer layers of stars.
