Biographic notes
João Lima received the "Licenciatura" in Physics/Applied Mathematics from the University of Porto in 1988, the MSc. in Astronomy from the University of Sussex (U.K.) in 1989 and the D.Phil. from the University of St.Andrews (U.K.) in 1995.

He was an Assistant Lecturer from 1989 to 1995. Since then he is a Lecturer at the Department of Applied Mathematics, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto.

His main research interests are: magnetohydrodynamic models of stellar winds and the variation of the solar wind with latitude. He is involved in the research project "Stellar Astrophysics" of the Centre for Astrophysics. He also participates in the education and popularization of Astronomy, as part of the activities of the "Popularization Unit" of the Centre.
