This appendix contains copies of two un-refereed publications and of a paper accepted for publication by Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
The un-refereed publications resulted from my participation in the IAU Symposium No. 182 ``Herbig-Haro Flows and the Birth of Low Mass Stars'', held at Chamonix, France, in January 1997, where a poster was presented and from my participation in the conference ``The Non-Sleeping Universe - Stars and the ISM'', held in Porto, Portugal, in November 1997 where an oral contribution was presented. These two papers present some of the results obtained while the research work presented in this thesis was under way.
The Monthly Notices paper resulted from a collaboration between myself and my thesis supervisor (J. P. Emerson) with the remaining authors of the paper (I. A. Bonnell, K. W. Smith, M. R. Meyer and C. A. Tout). Using data from Pa Beta and Br Gamma IPC line profiles presented in this thesis together with optical IPC data found in the literature, an estimate for the masses of various T Tauri stars was determined. The use of such mass estimates for constraining pre-main-sequence evolutionary tracks is discussed.
