Introduction

The goal of Star Formation within Astronomy is to try to understand how stars are formed out of interstellar material, how they evolve and interact with the surrounding medium during the early stages of their lives and finally how they get to the main sequence phase of stellar evolution. A particular star but of incommensurable importance to us all is the Sun. The Sun is a low mass star and the understanding of how it was formed and how the Solar System arose relies on the study of pre-main sequence low mass stars and their early evolutionary stages. Of particular importance to achieve this aim is the study of T Tauri stars.
