Resumo
The elemental abundances and their variations from galaxy to galaxy or within them provide important information related to the evolution of galaxies, mainly the histories of star formation and of the infall of gas in spiral disks and irregular galaxies. The basic ideas and main processes which have a role in the chemical evolution of galaxies will be described. I will explain the multiphase chemical evolution model from Molla & Diaz (2005) and I will show the evolutionary histories of a set of theoretical galaxies obtained with a grid of realistic models able to reproduce the data of our local universe.
