Developments and science with High-Contrast Imaging instruments

Abstract
Two high-contrast imagers with the main goal of directly imaging extra-solar planets have recently seen first light on 10m-class telescopes. I will go through the science motivation for high-contrast imagers, the challenges posed to direct imaging and I will provide a quick overview of the instruments and main results achieved so far.
