Tidal dissipation in multi-planet systems and constaints to orbit- tting

G. Boué, J. Laskar, A. C. M. Correia

Abstract.
Short period planets undergo tidal dissipation and their eccentricities tend to decrease. In multiplanetary systems, however, an outer planet on an eccentric orbit can prevent the circularization of the closest planets due to secular interactions. A good understanding of these interactions enables to constrain fitted orbital parameters. It has already been used on the HD10180 planetary system [Lovis, et al., 2011]. Here, we present in full details the linear secular theory with tidal damping, and apply it to the HD209458 planetary system.
