In the frame of a survey planned to search for variability in a sample of hot subdwarf stars we got a serendipitous detection of a new variable star. We planned therefore new fast photometry and spectroscopy with the 1.52 cm telescope and sequential UBVRI photometry with the 60 cm telescope at Loiano Observatory. Analyzing the optical spectrum ,the UBVRI photometry and the time series collected with our two head photometer, we identify BD+22 1268 as belonging to the class of Delta Scuti stars
