Stellar convection

P. Demarque
Department of Astronomy, Yale University, New Haven, CT 06520-8101, USA

Seismology provides powerful tests of convection deep in stellar interiors. First, the role of convective overshoot and low efficiency convection, two areas of uncertainty with important astrophysical implications, are reviewed briefly. In the rest of the talk, a critical introduction to numerical simulations of radiative hydrodynamics will be given. The basic underlying assumptions and challenges are explained, and some recent results are presented.
