Discussion will be focussed on FGK stars. Both stochastically excited and self-excited modes should be considered.

Part 1: synopsis

• Seismic assessment of the rotation is based on measuring rotational splitting; but with only low-degree modes probing slow rotation is difficult. Identify and quantify the limiting factors (speed of rotation, linewidths, stellar type, ...)
• In FGK stars, fast rotation is associated with magnetic activity. Identify the likely complications of measuring and interpreting the splittings, and how these issues vary with stellar type.
• Identify what can be learned from acoustic modes alone: are any inference tools required beyond straightforward inversion?
• Self-excited mixed modes or g modes could help, but identification may be a problem: identify what are the issues to be resolved in making progress in this direction.
  
  

• strategy for measuring rotational splitting in noisy and/or incomplete oscillation spectra;
• choice of objects for long-term monitoring;
• what do we learn from the CoRoT data on HD 175726, a star with nearly solar parameters except its rotation rate (7 times faster than the Sun).
