A Tour Of Our Universe

Charles Bennett
Johns Hopkins University

From the beginning of recorded human history we have longed to comprehend the cosmos. Once thought to be an exercise limited to armchair philosophy, it is remarkable the degree to which modern scientific measurements in just the last decade have provided rigorous observational data. Stunning progress has made based on these new measurements, resulting in a robust understanding of many of the key aspects of our universe. The universe turns out to be stranger than we had imagined.
This public lecture will share our modern view of the universe: what we think we know, how we know it, and a description of the current research frontiers.
