Human kind has wondered since long if we are alone in this universe? The great advancements in the science and technology during the second half of 20th century has resulted in well defined projects to search for the extra-terrestrial life and intelligence. I shall discuss the scientific reasons for why we believe there exists other life forms and intelligence out there in the universe and give a brief overview of the projects that are aimed at searching for extra-terrestrial intelligence.
