Biographic notes
J. P. Maurício de Carvalho received the "licenciatura" in Surveying from the Faculty of Science of the Univ. of Porto in July 1984, and the Ph.D. degree in astronomy from the same University in May 1995.

He is teaching at the Department of Applied Mathematics of the Faculty of Science of the Univ. of Porto since October 1984. He is currently Associate Professor.

He was member of the coordinating committee of the Masters Degree in Astronomy Education in the same department. He is a researcher of the Center for Astrophysics of the University of Porto, where he is member of the research team of the project in the area of cosmology.

In what concerns research interests they focus in cosmology areas and currently in cosmic structure formation. He also has interests in the fields of history of astronomy and education of astronomy.
