Research Grant

The Centro de Astrofísica da Universidade do Porto (CAUP) accepts applications for one to two research grants (Bolsas de Investigação – Licenciado/Mestre) in the field of Observational Cosmology - Large Scale Structure (LSS) and Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), with financial support provided by FCT through the Project PTDC/CTE-AST/64711/2006. The grant(s) will have duration between three to six months and are open to holders of the degree of “Licenciatura”, “Mestre” or equivalent. The monthly allowance is defined by FCT regulations.

The research will be to support work within the project “Dark Energy: constraints from galaxy clusters”, with emphasis on the following topics:

• Characterization of the Sunyaev-Zeld’ovich (SZ) and X-ray cluster populations from numerical simulations
• Modeling of the diffuse and kinetic SZ signal components at Planck Surveyor resolution
• Probing Cosmology and fundamental physics with the SZ effect
• LSS probes of Dark Energy

Evaluation will be based primarily on the applicant’s academic qualifications and research experience relevant to the project.
